I research and teach in higher education. My interests span innovation, technology and regional development, with a particular focus on the role that actors, agency and institutions play in strategy processes. My research has been published in academic journals such as Regional Studies, European Urban and Regional Studies, Environment and Planning C and Local Economy. Before returning to academia in 2016 I worked as a policy consultant in the private sector for 17 years, conducting research for organisations such as governments, development agencies and local authorities across the UK and wider Europe. I am a trained project manager (PRINCE2), with experience of managing £1 million plus research projects.
