Lead the publishers operations functions (Manufacturing, Digital Production, Inventory, and Digital Distribution) for all publishers and imprints at Hachette Book Group. My team manages the physical & digital supply chains, procures manufacturing of all print editions, forecasts and manages physical inventory, coordinates digital production, interior design, composition, prepress, ebook creation, and digital distribution. In addition, I lead several corporate strategic initiatives that range from cost reduction to improving our supply chain efficiencies and lowering returns.

Managed the Digital Production groups which provided interior design, composition, and ebook service via outsourced partners and an in-house composition team. Implemented an in-house xml-workflow tool that delivers all print and ebook formats from a single XHTML source file. In addition, directed the 4c Children’s book production and manufacturing team. * Created an in-house composition team that utilized a an xml-first workflow tool to design and compose books for press as well as ebooks for the digital supply chain. The program reduced outsourced prepress spend by 30%. * Integrated HBG’s workflows for digital and print products. * Implemented a digital workflow tool to manage the delivery, review, revisions, and approvals of work-in-process ebook files for quality assurance.

Directed the production team responsible for coordinating the manufacturing and prepress services for all titles on Hachette’s Adult Publishing lists. * Implemented a standardized bid-analysis process with a sophisticated spreadsheet tool used across the department to efficiently compare complicated print bids across multiple vendors. * Standardized disparate processes across publishers.

Managed the production and manufacturing for all titles on the Faith Words & Center Street lists as well as all custom publishing projects generated out of the Special Sales group and all foreign and domestic co-editions. * Collaborated with leaders across the company on a year-long project to build the company’s title-management database, PubTracker. * Served as a business lead in the requirements gathering, development, and ongoing enhancements and improvements of the company’s purchase order system.

* Supervised the production of books across multiple formats and imprints from the Children’s Trade, Young Adult, Children’s 4c mass market, and Color & Activity groups.* Managed the pre-production and the manufacturing supply chain for 5 million books published in seven different formats produced at multiple vendors with multiple components in the U.S. and Canada on an accelerated schedule for Pokémon, a major licensor and business partner.

* Coordinated the production purchasing of all adult imprint reprints.* Oversaw the front list production from manuscript to bound books for computer software books on the MIS press imprint as well as books sold to the children’s educational market for Twenty-first Century Books.
