Greenbackville Marsh, Virginia

Six soil cores were taken throughout Greenbackville Marsh, a small coastal marsh of the Chesapeake Bay. PVC wells were then inserted into the cores to create an artificial water column. My daily responsibilities were collecting; Depth, Conductivity, Salinity, Temperature, and Specific Gravity data. It is the first recorded natural historical data of this area. The data was used to create a 3D model of the water table as part of a larger scale Chesapeake Bay Restoration Project.

Assisted in a M.S student's thesis research. The goal of the experiment, using artificial stream channels, was to identify the affect of Phosphorus on the growth of Periphyton. Closely controlling temperature, light exposure, and quantity of macro- and micronutrients we were able to modulate the growth of the Periphyton. My responsibilities included; maintaining the stream channels, collecting data, analyzing the data, and preparing a report for a department wide event.
