I have volunteered at the front desk and the Emergency department. Working at the front desk includes answering the questions of people visiting the hospital or guiding them somewhere with an answer, guiding people where they need to be, and helping sanitize the waiting area. Working in the Emergency Department includes cleaning rooms after a patient leaves, brining patients or patient families to their rooms, stocking rooms with supplies and helping out hospital staff with tasks that does not involve touching the patient. I also trained new volunteers interested in working in the Emergency Department.

Accurate classification of physical activities in children (8-12yrs) are essential to determine their time-use behaviors related to physical activity and sedentary behavior, prevalence and determinants of physical activity, complex and interdependent dose-response relationships between physical activity and health outcomes, and the efficacy or effectiveness of interventions to increase physical activity. Recent consumer wearable devices (e.g., Garmin, Fitbit) incorporate built-in activity recognition features that can automatically identify familiar exercising patterns (e.g., walking, running, outdoor biking, and swimming. Thus, this study aims to test how well consumer wearable devices can automatically detect children's activities, including walking, running, and biking.
