I developed and implemented a turnaround strategy for the finance function by: - Restructuring the finance team and aligning the team members skills and experience to appropriate roles. - Focus on leading the finance team through regular communication, training and coaching.- Leveraging existing technology and introduction of new technology to eliminate manual processes and optimize the financial processes. - Implemented a business intelligence tool to allow for integrating reporting.

Lead the design, set-up and implementation of the financial systems for CNA, South Africa's largest stationery and book retailer. This was a new financial system as none of CNA's existing systems were migrated across from the seller.

­Developed and implemented a turnaround strategy aimed at creating a sustainable and scalable food retail business in response to Taste Holdings having been bailed out by it's controlling shareholder.I achieved this by developing, articulating and communicating the Group’s long-term strategy, providing strong leadership and management of the Group Executive Team and operations of all the Group’s business in the Food Division (Starbucks Coffee, Domino’s Pizza, Maxis Grill and The Fish & Chips Co) and Luxury Goods Division (NWJ and Arthur Kaplan Jewellers).Key Achievements:­- Re-organised the Group to distinguish between the profitable and non-profitable businesses. - Divested from the non-profitable and non-core businesses within the group. - Raised R 130 million in new capital by way of a rights issue to fund the business turnaround. - Re-organised the executive management of the group to streamline and focus on the turnaround of the group. - Enhanced the business controls and reporting by implementing a new financial system (SAGE) and BI Reporting tool (Power BI) ­ [Please note, further details available upon request (Comprehensive CV)]

I was promoted to CEO of Grand Parade Investment's Quick Service Restaurant division at a time when the business was experiencing significant growth. It was the largest operating division which employed 1300 people and generated R700m in Turnover. ACHIEVEMENTS: - Aggressive expansion of the new store network across all three brands. 14 new stores were opened during my period as CEO. - Improve Burger King’s sales. I was able to achieve an 11% increase on the year-on-year sales through better brand positioning, enhance menu architecture and product innovation. - I was able to achieve an operating profit for the QSR division for the first time in its existence within 5 months of taking over as CEO. - Burger King EMEA asked me to be one of their keynote speakers at the 2017 EMEA Regional Conference, to highlight the turnaround of Burger King during my time as the CEO.

While I was the CFO of Grand Parade Investments, the group was involved in divesting from its gambling assets and diversified into the food retail; real estate and manufacturing industries. ACHIEVEMENTS:-Financial lead on the M&A team and responsible for all financial modelling, valuations and legal agreement reviews. Total value of deals concluded of R1.8bn. - Financial reporting, I successfully reduced the financial reporting cycle from 15 to 7 working days. - Capital Structure, I successfully negotiate debt facilities in excess of R400m. - Cash Flow Management, I effectively managed the cash flows of the group to ensure that shareholder were paid dividends every year. - Created a shared service division within the group to manage all financial and administrative functions which through greater efficiencies resulted in an 8% reduction in overhead costs. - The expansion of our slots business through the acquisition of 3 operating business and gambling licences valued at R90m. - The sale of a 20% holding in GrandWest Casino for R1.2bn. - The sale of 70% of SunSlots for R900m. - The acquisition of a 20% holding in Spur Corporation Limited valued at R290m. The acquisition was structured to contain R150m of debt funding, R72m funded by the seller and the remainder in cash. - The acquisition of Mac Brother Catering Equipment, a leading catering equipment company for R50m. - The construction of a burger patty processing plant and bakery to support the food divisions operations with a combined value of R90m.
