I grew up in Sun Valley, ID; a rural area rich in community, art, infrastructure and nature. The household that I was raised in taught me grit, compassion and perseverance through art and the game of chess. When I was young going on camping trips, my dad and I would sit by the river and paint the scene. I became attached to the freedom of creative thinking, design and thought when producing artwork. Just as influential, chess has been an opportunity for me to put my problem solving skills to work. The problems proposed in the game reflect that of the real world. The game has sharpened not only my problem solving skills, but my endurance, patience and grit. After travelling to places like Bangkok, Oslo, London and more, I found inspiration in World Architecture and the way I felt travelling to these places. I realized the scope of what architecture can do for individuals and a community and that it extends so far beyond the surface. I am interested in shaping and contributing to the lives around me and connecting them with others and the built and natural environment. While attending school at the University of Idaho, I've had the opportunity to combine my skills and passions and use them in architectural design. I've been taught and experienced everything from groupwork to 3D modelling to craftsmanship to conceptual work. Reflecting on the courses I have taken so far, sustainable, green design and urban residential housing has resonated with me the most.
