My main responsibilities will be to work together with my colleagues, the clients and other disciplines in the engineering field to deliver detailed projects around New Zealand and the pacific in the building and construction industry.UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO FOOD SCIENCE PRECINCT: Since 2019 I have been the lead engineer for the assessment and strengthening design of the Gregory Building as part of the UoO’s Food Science redevelopment project. The four storey building consists of two way concrete moment frames supporting a mix of timber and concrete floors. Strengthening design aims to inhibit the column sway mechanisms by the use of viscous dampers as part of a low damage design solution. COOKE HOWLISON TOYOTA SHOWROOM : I was responsible for the full detailed design portion of the new Toyota showroom and office building in Dunedin. I completed all design aspects of the building which included the foundations, precast shear walls, steel moment frames, and the precast concrete diaphragm forming the mezzanine level of the building and all associated connection design.The designs included a varying use of structural modelling programs for both 2D and 3D analysis along with foundation modelling techniques in order to anticipate ground conditions under seismic loadings.UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO SCIENCE 1 PRECINCT : I was involved with several aspects of the construction phase for the new Science 1 Precinct development at the University of Otago. Inspections ranged from insitu concrete work to remedial works to the existing structure including on site expertise and recommendation to the Contractor in order to ensure deliverables and milestones were achieved.
