Awarded a research bursary by Prof Michael Zaworotko to work with the Crystal Engineering Research Group in UL. My project was titled “Levulinic Acid Cocrystals”. I used my own initiative and carried out a variety of experiments to try and produce cocrystals of levulinic acid using a range of different coformers. Experiments performed included slow evaporation, solvent-assisted grinding and slurries.Analysis was performed using PXRD, SCXRD and TGA. HighScore and Microsoft Excel were used to interpret analytical results. Communication skills were also developed by presenting findings to the research group.
