Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I graduated from Stanford in 1999 with a B.S. in Symbolic Systems, which is a mix of computer science, linguistics, philosophy and cognitive science. During my senior year I founded an internet startup with a roommate called college411.com, a "My-Yahoo"-style portal for college students. We raised a seed round of funding, hired a team of eight, did a cross-country marketing campaign in an RV and sold the company nine months later to Student Advantage, a public company specializing in loyalty programs for college students. After working with Student Advantage in Boston for a few years, I moved back to California in 2002 and settled in San Diego. While in San Diego I have worked as the Director of Emerging Technologies at Digitaria, a full-service digital agency, as well as a CTO and CEO for a couple web-based Software-as-a-Service start-ups.In 2014 I founded Robomakery, a company dedicated to accelerating development of affordable service robots for people with mobility impairments.In 2015 I founded Ordinary Experts, a friendly SoCal-based technology agency.
