Design and development of testing regimes to assist in the efficient use of RF spectrum with the minimal interference to other users. Data analysis and formulation of reports to assist stakeholders in the forging of policy for the use of RF spectrum.

Diagnosing systems issues relating to the implementation of NHS ambulance system. Identifying solutions to provide interim and longterm solutions both for fixed and wireless communications.

Member of the communications system design and bid team. The role involved taking customer requirements and formulating a design which is then costed and presented to the customer as part of the bid process. The systems bid ranged from standalone PMR radio through to fully integrated distributed antenna systems for buildings and tunnels. A large proportion of the bid work involved the design of IP based networks for the back haul of data for high quality CCTV systems. This included the specifying of RF link and fibre systems based on system topology, environment and data requirements. The technologies used include point-to-point and point-to-multipoint, COFDM equipments in the 5 GHz band and Microwave links in the licensed bands. Also take a lead role in the evaluation of present and emerging RF technologies and how they may be used within Tyco, including technologies such as UWB, DECT and VoWIFI.

A member of a small team of Systems Engineers, who design, build and commission bespoke, integrated radio networks.Was the Lead Engineer in the design and rolled out a 10 site trunked radio network covering a large metropolitan area with 10,000 users and providing coverage of better than 98%.

Managing the role out of 2.4GHz broadband network

Worked in the Cambridge Development Centre, on the development of DWDM, Metropolitan communications equipment, where I was responsible for working directly with customers on equipment trials worldwide. This involved reporting back to the development teams and system designers on issues of importance to the customers. Prior to this I was involved with the development and system proving of the equipment. Awarded an Individual Contribution Award, for outstanding work with customers.
