Serve as in-house general counsel, responsible for all legal matters and compliance for a law enforcement agency of approximately 600 employees. Duties include: ensuring compliance with numerous regulatory schemes including FLSA, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, as well as state labor laws, Civil Service regulations, public contracting, and ethics requirements; counseling and prosecution of employee discipline; negotiation with organized labor, and drafting collective bargaining agreements; appearance in court on contested matters; management of all outside counsel; negotiation and drafting of all manner of policies, legal opinions, and contracts; and advising the elected Sheriff on all legal matters effecting his Constitutional office and the agency.
