Purchasing Agent - Purchasing & Contracting Department
CurrentUnder the leadership of the County Judge and County Commissioners the Director/Purchasing Agent is responsible for directing and coordinating the services and activities of the Purchasing and Contracting Department. Responsible for development and implementation of policies and procedures conforming to applicable laws and regulations and best business practices to ensure the provision of efficient and effective services to the County. Under delegated authority by the Commissioners Court, approves and awards; Invitations to Bid (ITB), Request for Proposals (RFP), or Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for goods and services up to fiftythousand dollars. The Director/Purchasing Agent provides direct oversight of department administrative functions relating to budget, personnel, clerical and technology. Implemented increased use of Inter-local agreements and cooperative purchasing (Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) BuyBoard, National Intergovernmental Purchasing Association (NIPA), etc.) to enhance workflows and allow the County through consolidation to receive the best value/price for purchases where available. Responsible for Procurement, Contracting, New Facility Construction, General Government Fleet Procurement, Insurance Procurement and Claims Management. Other duties as requested by the County Judge and Commissioners.
