Past 17 years involved in the commercial nuclear power industry as an analyst, maintaining certifications that have enabled me to perform non-destructive testing, analysis, systems administration and data management functions to determine and report on the integrity of the steam generator component of pressurized water reactors. Eddy current testing is an electromagnetic method of observing and categorizing many attributes and potential flaw morphology of non-conductive materials without inherently causing damage to the test specimen. These inspections, observations and final reports to the utility are used to determine what repairs may be necessary as well as influencing some of the operating parameters of the plant. We are occasionally a "critical path" operation within the routine refueling cycle of the reactor.
