About E. Sequoyah Simermeyer
As a Vice President at FanDuel, I leverage my extensive knowledge and experience in federal Indian law and policy to support the company's strategic growth and expansion in the gaming industry. FanDuel is a leading online sports betting and fantasy sports platform that operates in multiple U.S. states and offers a variety of gaming products and services to millions of customers.I have extensive professional and academic experience in the field of federal Indian law and policy, including experience in executive federal agency leadership, congressional affairs, international Indigenous rights, and state-tribal relations. Before joining FanDuel, I served as the Chairman and lead Agency official of the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), the federal regulatory body for Indian gaming. I represented a national regulatory perspective on Indian gaming during significant NIGC regulatory reform, throughout COVID's impacts on the gaming industry, amid increases in cybersecurity threats to national industries, and during regulatory policy formation soon after the Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992. The Indian gaming industry generated a historic $39B in annual revenue during 2023 and included 248 tribal governments and 500 gaming operations on Indian land in 29 states. While Chair, I was responsible for enforcing the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988, approving tribal gaming ordinances and management agreements, approving alternate technical standards, reviewing gaming facility licenses, and issuing civil fines and closure orders for violations. I also testified before Congress and other stakeholders on various issues related to Indian gaming and tribal sovereignty. I hold a Juris Doctor degree from Cornell Law School, a Master of Environmental Law and Policy degree from Vermont Law and Graduate School, and an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College. I am passionate about advancing the interests and rights of Indigenous peoples and communities, as well as promoting responsible and ethical gaming practices. I am also committed to learning and innovating in the dynamic and evolving gaming industry, and to contributing to FanDuel's vision of delivering the best gaming experiences to its customers. I am a skilled and effective leader, communicator, and negotiator, with a proven track record of collaborating with diverse and multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. I am always eager to take on new challenges and opportunities, and to apply my expertise and insights to create positive and lasting impacts.
