This varied role involved resolving time-critical issues arising, consulting with both domestic and international offices to determine needs and job roles within corporate structure (including travelling to International offices where appropriate). It included responsibility for developing and implementing procedures and work flow processes for Product Development and Production to streamline whole-business processes and identify accountability whilst maximising productivity and profitability.Significant time spent liaising with different departments and data gathering to produce whole-organisation reports to give an overview of current-time progress against KPIs. In this role I was responsible for ensuring ranges/products were delivered on time and close to the original brief, working with suppliers and where necessary managing designers' expectations with respect to the viability of design features. I successfully developed critical paths for projects and ensured that they ran smoothly from design, through to delivery within deadline. This required a multi-angle approach; regular factory visits resulted in a vast knowledge of the manufacturing and production process on a wide range of products, whilst running reports on Sage developed a sound understanding of customer demand. My background and linguistic skills meant I was instrumental in advising on relevant cultural business practices and differences in approach to facilitate communication with Hong Kong office.Responsible for liaising with our Hong Kong office to organise in-line and final QC inspection at factory to ensure quality meets licensor's requirement.Assist the compliance team to arrange factory social/ethical audit.During this time I also mentored a Trainee Production Assistant and oversaw their development into a competent Production Manager.

This role allowed me to take on more responsibility than a typical design/architectural technician. From surveying, drafting, detailing, space planning and finishing. I have liaised with planners and contractors as well as produced feasibility report for planning applications.Other works involved undertaking complete designs including lighting and flooring layouts, colour schemes, the provision of sample boards and 3D models and technical drawings.I also had the opportunity to follow some of the projects right through from concept stage to completion - from residential housing projects, commercial offices, agricultural sites to Grade 1 listed historical buildings.Key Tasks:•Client liaison, idea generation, feasibility studies - discussing client’s requirements and producing suitable ideas and solutions. This was my university work placement for the sandwich year of the course. I shadowed the senior designer on site visits and drew up plans for Council applications, as well as tendering for construction bids.
