As the head of the SF office I've built great product teams and delivered several successful products for startups and enterprise clients with companies like IDEO, ThermoFisher, and UCSF. Working directly with stakeholders, devs, and designers I was directly involved as the Principle from concept through multiple launches and refinements, focusing on optimizing key success metrics. My daily involvement includes coding, workshopping, planning, mentoring, and troubleshooting to keep the projects on track and the team constantly improving.I also led our product team recruiting, working directly with our recruiter to define our hiring process and job requirements. Along with other team members I conduct interviews and made the final call on hiring then later directed onboarding, conducted 1-1's and performed periodic reviews and feedback. Social Sidekick bridges Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to regular-old email and provides daily prompts/coaching for small businesses and individuals looking to engage others via social media.As the CTO I built everything and did all devops: Backend in rails, frontend in backbone, lots of deep integration with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, various email services, Paypal APIs for payments and ACH transfers, regulation of marketplace payment requirements (before Stripe/Briantree gave us this for free), deployed to AWS.Additionally I worked very closely and collaboratively with designers to define the concept, value proposition, and business model.

Worked with a variety of clients to build web applications (frontend and backend) using javascript, rails, node, backbone, etc and to build mobile web applications using cordova and phonegap. In mobile applications I developed native obj-C plugins for functionality like bluetooth integration and location awareness. Responsible for gathering requirements and goals, distilling those into an actionable plan, communicating realistic expectations to the client, and ultimately delivering successful results in the form of working, deployed software.

ATM of the future! Javascript frontend app running in a custom kiosk device. Now deployed all over Asia. I developed API to talk to Citi backend services, led the software team at Substantial, defined application architecture, and developed large portion of front end code. I also worked directly with partners internal to Citibank (backend integration) and external vendors (ATM devices) to successfully sew together a complex variety of different systems.We were operating under the constraint of only being able to use a small and outdated set of 3rd party libraries so we wrote a ton of custom infrastructure: templating language (inspired by Resig's famous blog on the subject), routing, object/component system with full lifecycle and memory management, internationalization, etc.

While freelancing I worked on several projects at IDEO. For example I built the javascript, HTML5 reference frontend for the Heathcare.gov marketplaces adopted by 30 states (actual implementation in CA was somewhat different)I embedded directly with IDEO teams during their detailed design and delivery phases to gather requirements, provide feedback on feasibility and timeline, and work iteratively with IDEO teams to explore and ultimately delivery working software prototypes and products.

Quantified Self startup focusing on goal achievement through behavioral modification using positive and negative reinforcement and social feedback.As the CTO I built everything with another junior developer and did all devops: Backend in rails, frontend using backbone, Faye, websockets, Stripe, deployed to AWS.Additionally I worked very closely and collaboratively with designer to define the concept, value proposition, and business model.

Developed navigable "mind-map" of nested subjects, questions and answers for visualization and exploration of complex academic topcs to be embedded into LMS product at Odigia. Topic nodes loaded dynamically on html5 canvas and positioned using force directed graph as you navigate.

Mobile, Rails and Javascript Developer. Worked on and led several projects using rails, backbone, postgres while managing all deployment, testing, continuous integration, etc. Frequently interacting directly with clients to define requirements, timeline, goals, and conduct technical discovery.

Circuit/System modeling and testing, build automation, test system development, digital IC circuits, control of analog circuits. Designed and implemented several custom integrated circuits, modeled complex analog and digital system to overcome simulation performance limitations using Verilog and C/C++, design system architecture and built logic for two high speed chip test systems using C, C++, Matlab, Verilog, Ruby which required integration of highly parallel custom integrated circuits, custom circuit boards, FIFOs, and a multithreaded database layer. Saved millions of dollars building custom tailored test systems which outperformed generic testing alternatives.
