This was a student temporary position not to exceed two years. During that time I: • Applied civil engineering hydraulic and structural concepts, principles, and practices obtained in civil engineering curriculum while providing technical assistance as requested by engineers in the Hydraulic Design and Dam Safety sections.• Recommended improved procedures for section library organization and subsequently overhauled and maintained the library• Maintained section webpage via Microsoft Word.• Utilized the worldwide web for researching innovative engineering solutions to fish passage and other hydraulic and hydrologic Corps projects.• Without the aid of formal training became familiar with and utilized Microstation and TecPlot programs for the development of design drawings and schematics• Utilized Excel to analyze data via pivot tables and regression to create charts and spreadsheets.• Maintained the library database in Microsoft Access.• Used Word and Publisher to draft reports.• Worked with Primavera without the aid of formal training to assist in project scheduling.

• Manage engineering department budget• Manage and maintain parts and tool inventory for two Coast Guard small boat stations including parts for marine vessels, trucks, vans, and miscellaneous land applications• Use Microsoft Word and Excel for parts inventory organization• Research and negotiate pricing for parts for marine vessels, trucks, vans, and miscellaneous land applications, saving the Coast Guard approximately $150,000• Maintain positive relationships with vendors, other Coast Guard units, and other US agencies• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment• Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications• Assist in Search and Rescue efforts• Stand security and engineer watches• Organize training for other unit personnel• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing• Participate in team building exercises and training• Provide customer service to the public.
