Elizabeth Kata works as the Unit Head of the Archives Unit at the International Atomic Energy Agency in the Archives and Records Management Section in Vienna, Austria. Her work focuses on providing archival services to IAEA staff and external researchers, maintaining the physical and digital archives of the IAEA, promoting the work of the archives and good information governance, and providing training on archives and records management. She continues to work and provide guidance on cross-cutting projects on electronic recordkeeping and digital preservation. Projects and tasks include overseeing the drafting of standards for records management and archiving, surveying and assessing digital assets, identifying and mitigating preservation risks, and preparing metadata for the Archives Management System (using Axiell Collections). She received her Master's in Historical Research, Auxiliary Sciences and Archival Studies from the Austrian Institute of Historical Research at the University of Vienna. Her research interests include digital preservation, extracting and embedding metadata, disk imaging, social movement archives, feminist networking in Information Studies and modern diplomatics.
