As CFO I am an integral part of the leadership team and have overall responsibility for the management of the finance function of the Tipperary Co-op group, producing key financial information for the business in an accurate and timely manner. I am responsible for agreeing, communicating and leading the strategic direction of the company with the CEO.

Providing flexible Financial and Operational solutions to Irish Businesses in the SME sector. I help companies to - Improve profit and manage their cash flow efficiently- Tighten up internal controls & build a focused reporting infrastructure - Maintain focus on the risks and opportunities of their business- (Re)design the business plan and create an implementation timetable- Find investment/funding and maintain compliance reporting to support same (including Bank funding State Funding (Enterprise Ireland) and Private Investment funding

Key Responsibilities• I reported to the Cork Hospital Manager and to the Cork Board of Management. • I was a senior member of the Cork Hospital Management Team (HMT) with full commercial & clinical responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Hospital.• I directly managed 18 staff in Cork Finance, IT, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable & Procurement.Key Achievements• I participated in all strategic decisions and played a key role in the management team that led the business delivering 30% CAGR over 4 years & generated sustainable operating profitability and cash-flow self-sufficiency after 3 years of start-up losses. • I implemented a focused and relentless process for investment in Capital & People delivering maximum value from new service expansion within the Hospital.• I led key projects to support service expansion – including Corks first private Emergency Department, developing a spinal surgery service & trebling In-Patient beds.• In 2018 I secured shareholder approval for a €5m capital project that increased capacity by nearly 30%.• I negotiated contracts with Consultants & implemented business plans to ensure commercial targets were met. • I negotiated deals with key Third Party Service providers in Radiology, Pharmacy, Cleaning and Catering.• I engaged regularly with the main Health Insurers (VHI/LAYA/Irish Life) on pricing and coverage.• I led tender processes with the National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) and with local public hospitals winning multi millions worth of business for the hospital.• I renegotiated bank loan and lease facilities and improved cash flow through establishing tighter Accounts Receivable and Inventory processes.

I manage the Finance, IT & Procurement functions of Heineken's Wholesale subsidiary - Western Beverages Ltd. The business turnover is more than €40m, it operates from 5 locations in the West of Ireland & services nearly 4,000 customers. I am a key member of the operations management team, providing financial input to strategic decisions and my team maintain high standards of control and financial reporting within the Heineken organisation.

Reporting to the Operations Director I worked on new business acquisitions through the pre-acqusition planning phase through to post acqusition integration. Key duties included managing the financial reporting during integration; adapting and integrating IT systems; managing the staff (of both acquirer and acquired) involved in the integration project; managing the process of fixed asset and resource realingment; other key integration duties.

I managed all aspects of the finance function for 4 newly acquired businesses including; group financial control policies, financial planning & budgeting, management reporting and providing ad-hoc support to the managers of the businesses during transition.

•Managed 5 staff working in the General Ledger, Accounts Payable & Payroll functions. •Successfully managed transition to a 3-day financial close (from 5 days).•Assisted with the implementation of a cost containment program achieving >10% cost reduction in 3 months.

•Initially worked as an assistant to the UK Financial Controller with responsibility for financial reporting.•Role expanded to include a lot of special project work on merger, acquisitions and business integration.•My final year was spent as the Financial Controller of a joint venture company involved in fruit importation

•Provided corporate compliance & consulting services to a broad range of Irish and International companies.•I also gained considerable exposure to audit, corporate recovery & accounts preparation work.
