March 08 – December 15 Anglo American Ltd, The Lisheen Mine, Ireland Underground MinerEmployed primarily as a longhole driller in a diverse, underground metal mine. Spent over four years on Sandvik Solo 7 rigs and Atlas Copco's M series Simba. Currently training miners in the use of production rigs and explosives waggons. Mining methods at Lisheen vary between room and pillar mining to longhole open stoping, so there is a wide range of longhole drilling that I have been exposed to. I am also involved in charging techniques, mainly bulk emulsion with nonel initiation: electric, non-electric and electronic.Prior to joining the longhole crew I operated Sandvik 40D and 50D trucks for about six months, as well as various other mine service vehicles, including Teleporters, Dux Flatbeds, jumbo, bolters and Scissor-lifts. I also worked on the prepping and services crews.I have been involved in most aspects of the mining cycle and feel I have a good all-round experience during my time at Lisheen.
