I am currently undertaking a fellowship in Sydney, Australia, where I am honing my skills in facial reconstruction including reanimation of the paralysed face, complex rhinoplasty, head and neck cancer reconstruction, and oculoplastic surgery. Prior to this, I completed my ENT Surgery training in London, followed by a post-CCT fellowship in advanced rhinology and facial plastic surgery in The Royal National ENT Hospital, UCLH, London I have published over 50 peer-reviewed publications, and edited three medical textbooks, including Scott-Brown’s Essential Otorhinolaryngology https://www.routledge.com/Scott-Browns-Essential-Otorhinolaryngology-Head--Neck-Surgery/England-Shamil/p/book/9781138608481I’ve been awarded more than 20 prizes, grants and scholarships for academic excellence and research. To promote surgical education, I have organised several international courses, including ENT cadaveric dissection courses and The London Core Surgical Training Interview course, which was founded in 2014. I have been part of the ENT UK Student and Foundation Doctor committee for several years, working to improve education and attract more doctors to my specialty. From a global health perspective, I have taken part in several missions across Africa and the Middle East, and recently founded The UK Global Surgery Scholarship, that funds surgeons from rural parts of low-income countries to undergo further surgical training in England.Outside of I work, I enjoy playing squash and tennis.
