Key project was to grow the Birmingham Housing Unit into a business with a current turnover of £55 million, developing a high calibre team.Main responsibilities include:Business Development• Develop the business through a customer focused, non adversarial approach• Create an environment where the preconstruction teams and delivery teams work more closely together• Adopt a “one team philosophy” within the project teams to include clients and their representatives• Recruit high calibre staff; investing in key staff members earlySales• Raised profile of WD brand through organised events• Focus the sales team on a more developer / constructor approach• Focus on quality opportunities and reduce exposure to the tender marketDelivery, Presentation and Quality• Raised standards in programme predictability• Introduced a production line approach to internal finishes which raised quality standards, improved productivity and reduced defects• Greater emphasis on Stats and M&E.

Key responsibilities included reporting directly to the Managing Director, providing leadership and support to pre-Construction bid team, project Delivery teams & partnership management in order to deliver Birmingham City Council's £500 million capital building programme through the Birmingham Construction Partnership.Responsible for a large team including senior project managers, estimators, design managers, commercial staff and administrative personnel delivering an annual turnover in excess of £60 million.Key tasks included:• Developing a detailed management system to enable clear communication between the client, the design team, site staff and sub contractors• Creating a team within Wates capable of providing exceptional service to the client.• Appointing consultants and specialist sub-contractors to provide a range of design services• Liaising with design consultants and clients and assuming responsibility for projects from inception to contract end.
