Head Of Tds Northern Ireland
CurrentTDS Northern Ireland has been authorised by the Department for Communities to operate a Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme in Northern Ireland. TDS Northern Ireland is a not-for-profit company which is owned by The Dispute Service Ltd (which runs the not-for-profit Tenancy Deposit Scheme in England and Wales and provides services to a similar scheme in Scotland called SafeDeposits Scotland).TDS Northern Ireland operates two types of scheme:■The Custodial Scheme where landlords transfer deposits to us and we hold these in a designated account until the end of the tenancy. There is no charge for using the scheme, instead TDS Northern Ireland retains the interest on the deposits;■The Insurance Scheme where landlords insure the deposit with us so that, at the end of the tenancy, we can repay tenants their share of the deposit if, for whatever reason, the landlord fails to do so. TDS Northern Ireland charges a fee to protect each deposit in this way and this is paid by the landlord or agent protecting the deposit. In addition, TDS Northern Ireland provides a free dispute resolution service to decide on deposit disputes where the parties can’t agree and the tenant wants to use this service instead of going to court.TDS Northern Ireland is supported by the Association of Residential Landlords, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the National Association of Estate Agents, the National Union of Students-Union of Students in Ireland and the Landlords Association of Northern Ireland. We are a not-for-profit company so we aim to keep our costs and charges to the minimum necessary to deliver an excellent value for money service to landlords, agents and tenants in Northern IrelandEmail: info@tdsnorthernireland.comTelephone: 0300 037 3700
