Working in the Academia again, in KULeuven - Computer Security and Industrial Cryptography. My current research interests are focused on biometrics, privacy enhancing technologies and identity management.

Currently integrated in the Multimodal Information Area in Gradiant.My main research lines are focused on different subjects related to biometrics. These include speaker and face verification, audiovisual stream-based person verification, handwritten signature verification, integration of auxiliary data and quality information on verification decision process, multimodal fusion, audiovisual asynchrony detection and biometric cryptosystems for safer biometrics technologies.

Research activity manly focused on: * Development of new signature verification algorithms based on the HMM-UBM paradigm * Development of cryptobiometric systems for systems based on UBM-adapted models, including speaker verification systems, signature verification systems and video-based face verification systems.

During my project engineer step in the University of Vigo I had the opportunity to study pattern recognition theory and tools, I developed a Coupled Hidden Markov Models tool using C++, and I worked on speaker verification, face verification, multimodal fusion, and quality informed fusion. I did a collaboration with the Center for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing in the University of Surrey and another with the ENST (currently the Telecom Paristech). My PhD studies were greatly supported by the european FP7 Netowrk of Excellence Biosecure, which gave me the opportunity to know and work with a lot of excellent european PhD students and senior researchers. My thesis was focused on studying new techniques for a robust audiovisual biometric authentication.
