In 2013, I began a seismic interpretation assignment the Shell Duvernay asset in Fox Creek. My responsibilities included:- Seismic interpretation for geohazard assessment for drilling and reef mapping to help define boundaries of future development areas- Microseismic interpretation and integration with Subsurface, Geomechanics and Completions Engineering datasets in order to optimize drilling and hydraulic fracture completion design; this also included microseismic quality control and vendor assessment- Development of induced seismicity management protocols, communication plans as well as the monitoring system currently in use

Moving on from my first Shell position in Petrophysics to Quantitative Interpretation was a natural transition. My responsibilities included:- performing well log quality control and conducting 3D seismic inversion- correlation of inversion results to well productivity in the Montney in Northeast BC- AVO analysis and fluid fill modelling to assess drilling location in the Orphan Basin off the coast of Newfoundland- Application of rock physics models to inverted results in order to understand steam chamber development within the Clearwater Formation as part of a SAGD Heavy Oil Project

Despite the fact that my degree coming out of the University of Alberta was Geophysics, I took the role as operations & development petrophysicist as a good opportunity to expand my experience. My responsibilities included:- Re-evaluation of rock quality in the Mississippian Foothills by conducting a Reservoir Characterization project which included integration of stressed core measurements with well logs- Performed well log evaluation in order to identify perforation intervals and responsible for updating petrophysical parameters necessary for development planning- Developed well logging programs and oversaw logging operations to ensure quality control
