About Joey Earnest
Joey Earnest is a musician and educator from Southern California, who specializes in keyboard, saxophone, composition, and production. In addition to teaching private music lessons, he teaches several rock and jazz history courses at Mesa College. He received a BM in Jazz Studies: Saxophone Performance from UC Irvine, an MM in Composition from San Diego State University, and an MA in Education from National University. Joey also produces and composes electro-acoustic music under the pseudonym, M_NKY. His compositions and improvisations are influenced by Jazz, European Classical, Experimental Electronic Music, Drum & Bass, Reggae, Rock, R & B, Hip-Hop, Indian Classical, Native American, Appalachian Folk, Afro-Cuban, and many more genres of music. Joey can be heard performing in and around San Diego with his band, The Munks.
