Winners of Theatre Critics Wales Award 2014: Best Small Scale Dance.Our mission is: To engage, excite, inspire, stimulate and provoke the audience through the creation and touring of original high quality mixed-media dance theatre performance. To enable public participation within a comprehensive, dynamic and sensitive education and participation programme.Earthfall was formed in 1989 by Jessica Cohen and Jim Ennis with a policy of forging radical choreography with live music and strong visual imagery. The company rapidly established itself as an outstanding exponent of pioneering dance theatre. Earthfall’s issue based work is concerned with seeking a personal honesty, passion and economy in physical performance to produce quality work of depth. Earthfall has performed throughout the world in many major festivals and has featured on numerous TV and Radio broadcasts. The company has received several awards for its live performance and film work, including the BAFTA Cymru Award winner for Best Short Film for Too Old To Dream and have been nominated for a BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Short Film in 2010 for GRAVITAS - POSTCARDS. Earthfall are financially supported by the Arts Council of Wales and the Lottery Division of the Arts Council of Wales. Earthfall are members of the Independent Theatre Council and Dance UK and are affiliates of Bath Spa University.

The production returned in 2011/12 to two sell out tours across the UK.The story tells of the developing love between two teenage boys and, as the space slowly fills with water, the boys’ relationship unfolds, they go into the sea to swim .... Staged entirely in water, and set against thebackdrop of the Easter Rising in Ireland,this tender and visually beautiful productionpreviously toured to sell-out audiencesin Wales, England, Scotland, Ireland andmainland Europe.Set in Ireland in 1916, At Swim Two Boys juxtaposes the developing love affair between two young men with political turmoil in Irelandand the slaughter on the Western Front –contrasting the dream of national liberationand the search for personal freedom.The production is staged in a slowly filling lake in front of a waterfall with episodes fromthe book woven together through a fusionof extreme physicality, original live music and film.“The darker tug of erotic tension and the fear of self-revelation is also finely observed in the aggressive thrashing heft of the choreography...
