Creating purposeful devices for unmet pediatric needs

Worked on a transcatheter implant and delivery system from concept to design validation. Rotated through four positions as an entry level engineer: manufacturing engineering with sheath technology, downstream marketing with critical care products, research and design on an early transcatheter project, and research and design on an implant to treat heart failure.

Worked with physicians, nurses, residents and technicians to identify needs that are critical to improving patient care and developed a set of design specifications for a promising biomedical application. Observed major vascular surgeries and clinic under Dr. Jeffrey Lawson, MD, PhD with an NIH grant.

Worked with the SPIDER flexible laparoscopic surgical system, creating testing protocol, machinery, and mechanisms in order to solve problems associated with strength, flexibility, fluid movement, and overall performance of the system and its instrumentation, from flexible graspers to cauterizers.

Founder and lead guitarist for a premiere show and dance band of Eastern North Carolina, catering to weddings, parties, fundraisers, charity benefits, and dances. The band has performed over 100 paid and charitable events including The Amani Children’s Foundation for New Life Home Orphanages in Kenya, Invisible Children, Change Poverty, UNC Dance Marathon, Cancer Prevention, AquaRock African Water Projects, Band Together
