After receiving a BA in Psychology from the University of Victoria, I worked as a Special Education Assistant with the Vancouver School Board. I also volunteered and tutored students with learning differences through the Learning Disabilities Association in Vancouver for four years. I then went on to receive a teaching certificate in elementary education from Simon Fraser University and worked as a resource teacher for the Vancouver School Board for five years, during which time I received my Diploma in Special Education from UBC. Over the past 20 years, through my work with Howard Eaton and Eaton Arrowsmith Vancouver, White Rock, Redmond and Eaton Arrowsmith Adult program, I have had the opportunity to help many children and adults better understand their learning styles. Finally, I have been very honoured to have been one of the founding educators at Eaton Arrowsmith School. Watching our students build their capacity to learn and become more confident, capable individuals is truly a joy. I am currently the school's Admissions Director. This role has enabled me to introduce this life changing work to many families and professionals in the field of education and neuroscience. I thoroughly enjoy connecting with our community in order to share my knowledge of our wonderful schools and to create partnerships with those whose common goal is the independent future of children and adults with unique learning styles. I've also had the opportunity to organize the Neuroplasticity and Education: Strengthening the Connection conference for three consecutive years. Each year we were joined by 800 educators, psychologists, parents, and others interested in in the power the the brain has to change as we listened to leaders in the field of education and neuroscience. One year, along with a fantastic parent group, I organized the Dare to Dream fundraising gala as a follow up event, and raised capital for research on the Arrowsmith Program.When I am not at the schools I love spending time with my husband and two children. I enjoy reading, cooking, being physically active and connecting with good friends.
