Panzi Hospital and Foundation (Panzi) was founded by 2018 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Dr. Denis Mukwege. Panzi provides survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo compassionate, holistic health care which combines medical treatment, psychosocial after-care services, community-reintegration activities, and legal support. Since its inception, Panzi has earned a reputation as center of excellence in eastern and central Africa treating more than 83,000 survivors of sexual violence and 85,000 women with complex gynecological injuries, while also serving as the general hospital for over 400,000 people in the region. The US office of Panzi manages fundraising and advocacy efforts to advance the efforts of the Congolese team, focusing on strategic partnerships, event planning, media relations, and more.
