 Detailed subject-matter experience in appealing and resolving hospital and free-standing ER reimbursement matters, including, but not limited to, cross-plan offsets and recoupments, overpayments, underpayments, denials, and fee forgiveness protocols. Pre-litigation and litigation of health insurance claims governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (“ERISA”) or the Texas Insurance Code. Restructuring claims collection/appeals department for hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and free-standing ERs. Overseeing compliance and regulatory matters for all Altus entities, which includes hospitals, ASCs, free-standing ERs, an accountable care organization, pharmacies, hospices, home health, and dental. Developing, initiating, maintaining, and revising policies and procedures for the general operation of compliance programs for all entities and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.  Ensuring all activities of entities, including, but not limited to, operations of clerical and medical staff, contracts between covered entities and business associates, service provider, vendor, and physician arrangements, and entity organizational structures, are in compliance with, amongst other laws and regulations, HIPAA/HITECH, Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the Texas Patient Solicitation Act. Also ensure that these arrangements maintain compliance with healthcare laws and regulations and applicable safe harbors.  Assisting on transactional and employment matters.  Liaison between all outside counsel and Altus.
