 Senior Executive Service political appointee in Obama Administration providing guidance to Secretary Sylvia Burwell as part of the Department’s senior leadership team. Served as Department’s liaison with state, local, and tribal governments and external stakeholders, including governors, mayors, health care associations, tribal leaders, constituency groups, and more. Provided these groups with a voice at the Department, and ensure that HHS activity and Departmental priorities is communicated effectively with them. Supervised work of policy, external affairs, tribal, administrative, and faith-based teams in DC as well as10 regional offices. Represented HHS and the Administration with constituent organizations at meetings, events, andspeaking engagements including National Governors Association annual meetings and the Council ofState Governments Medicaid Policy Academy. Oversaw the first Cabinet-level tribal advisory committee, bringing tribal leaders and HHS leadershiptogether on a quarterly basis. Responsible for outreach supporting Departmental priorities, including: Affordable Care Act, Medicaid Expansion, Unaccompanied children, Puerto Rico, Zika and Ebola

Leveraged the reach of existing government programs and communication channels at agencies across the government and utilized principal-level media activities in promoting enrollment. Oversaw coordination with national and local stakeholders conducting ACA outreach and enrollment activities, including over 60 local coalitions in key target markets. Served as primary liaison to HHS regional directors and staff in 10 regional offices.

 Supervised team of 5 responsible for creating and executing Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’s schedule. Created processes for logging, acknowledging, reviewing, responding, and following up on incominginvitations and requests for the Secretary’s time. Managed both day-to-day and long-term scheduling, providing a strategic filter to ensure the Secretary’stime allocation reflected the priorities of the Department.
