Network - I am responsible for an enterprise-wide LAN/WAN serving about 1000 endpoints. I maintain and Cisco ASA 5500 series firewalls, Cisco 4500 series switches, and Cisco routers. I also maintain a Barracuda web filter and a Barracuda email filter.VOIP - I am responsible for the organization's 2800 and 2900 series Cisco voice gateways, Cisco Callmanager, and Cisco Unity, and somewhere around 800 Cisco IP phones.Storage - I am responsible for a production and a standby EMC VNX series SAN using Unisphere. Virtualization - I am responsible for a production VMware 5 cluster running Enterprise Plus and using many of the bells and whistles it provides - Storage DRS, VMware Distributed Switches, Storage IO control..End-user Computing - I am responsible for an ever growing number of Teradici Zero clients using VMware View and Unidesk. Though I'm usually not the person updating layers or adding applications, I'm usually the person managing the cachepoints or the vCenter server in the background.Servers - I'm one of the small team responsible for a growing stable of Windows Server 2003, 2003R2, 2008, 2008R2, and 2012 Servers. I also manage a few stray Linux servers. We maintain Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, DRS, Forefront, and a bunch of vertical applications.People - I'm not formally in charge of anyone else in this position, but my extensive experience in so many areas of IT kind of makes me a guide or SME to many colleagues.

I was the first Director of I.T. hired by the county, and I built the department from the ground up. I saved the taxpayers of Cass County hundreds of thousands of dollars by merging dozens of disparate 'island' networks and used my wit and charm to get people to cooperate and work together.I started with more simple things like making physical network connections so everyone could use the same Internet provider and Active Directory domain. I hired I.T personnel to reduce our dependence on outside contractors. I centralized purchasing so that we could negotiate better pricing, and so we didn't have to maintain ink and toner stock for 105 different models of printers.
