Comprehensive pain management for patients utilizing patient controlled anesthesia, patient controlled epidural anesthesia, regional anesthesia as well as complex oral pain medications. Working with a team providing consultative pain management by developing individualized multi-modal pain plans for inpatients with acute trauma pain, acute on chronic pain and pain in patients with substance abuse issues. Educating patients, their family members, nurses, and other providers about pain management, types of pain being treated, side effects, and proper administration of medications.

Providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care for an assigned group of patients, using the nursing process, and collaborating with other disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery.Specific Responsibilities: Relief charge nurse and MSET (Medical-Surgical Emergency Team) nurse, precepting, recovering post-op open heart patients, caring for trauma patients from admission in the emergency department to the SICU, IABP’s, Impella LVAD, Belmont (rapid infuser), titration of vasoactive drips, maintenance of chest tubes (pleural and mediastinal), open abdomen patients, neurologic patients with ICP monitors, ventriculostomies, and post-op craniotomy and craniectomy.
