The mission of the Department of Fraternity & Sorority Life (DFSL) is to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders (students, administrators, alumni, parents, nationals, etc.) in order to foster, promote and support the development of a community made up of values-based organizations. DFSL is committed to holding chapters and their members accountable to the values-based rituals and ideals of their organizations, creating and maintaining a safe, healthy living-learning environment, and creating consistency among personal values, organizational values, university values, and community values. Through the department's efforts to develop and enhance leadership; promote positive involvement in the campus and community; cultivate an appreciation for diversity; encourage personal responsibility and self-governance; and to foster superior scholarship, they seek foster life-long engagement amongst their students and alumni.

The DC Public Charter School Board (DCPCSB) seeks to ensure that students and families in Washington, DC have access to quality public charter school education. Through setting tough academic standards; using a comprehensive charter application review process and effective oversight; providing meaningful support; and actively involving parents, school leaders, the community and policy makers, DCPCSB delivers on this mission.

The Maya Angelou Public Charter School (MAPCS), run by the See Forever Foundation (SFF), serves young people aged 11-24, including incarcerated young men and formerly incarcerated young adults. The mission of MAPCS/SFF is to create learning communities where all students, particularly those who have not succeeded in traditional schools, can reach their potential. MAPCS combines rigorous academics with critical wrap-around supports and interventions designed to prevent young people from dropping out of high school and re-engage those who have already dropped out. These supports include onsite mental health counseling, including supports for teen parents; paid internships and vocational training; extended day and weekend tutoring; credit recovery options; and intensive alumni support.

The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is the Federal Government's primary training institution for officers and support personnel of the U.S. foreign affairs community, preparing American diplomats and other professionals to advance U.S. foreign affairs interests overseas and in Washington. At the George P. Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center, the FSI provides more than 600 courses—including some 70 foreign languages—to more than 100,000 enrollees a year from the State Department and more than 40 other government agencies and the military service branches.
