Profile bio

About Ece Tekbulut

I am a curious and driven person who is passionate about solving complex puzzles. As a political philosopher, I have a deep understanding of societal and political structures that provides me with a comprehensive framework to analyze human and social phenomena. I am an analytical and creative thinker, I excel in identifying and dissecting intricate problems, recognizing patterns, challenging deeply held assumptions, and devising innovative solutions. I am also a seasoned and emphatic educator of political science with 6 years of teaching experience at Columbia University. In my classes, I often assume the role of facilitator, striving to encourage students to express their ideas and ensuring they feel heard and understood. I facilitate open communication among students with diverse backgrounds and conflicting viewpoints, aiming to guide discussions toward consensus.I am passionate about creating positive social change. Most recently, I have been advising a youth-led sustainable fashion venture, Closwap, on impact evaluation and engaging in questions regarding product development to ensure a successful launch for Closwap’s e-commerce app. Previously, I was involved in various projects aimed at improving the educational outcomes of underserved children. I implemented programs facilitating Syrian children's integration into the Turkish education system.I write for work and I write for pastime. My PhD book project explores how democracies should cope with an uncertain future. I propose a new understanding of "risk", challenging the idea that risk-management is a technical, administrative task. I've also written and produced several plays, and currently working on a comedy-drama TV series about the double standards women face.
