Inherited cardiomyopathies can lead to heart failure, ventricular arrhythmias (VA) andsudden cardiac death. Asymptomatic family members may carry the disease causingmutation and VA and sudden cardiac death can be the first disease manifestation. QRS-VISION aims to develop novel advanced diagnostic techniques to assess the diseasestate, progression and cardiac risk of yet asymptomatic PKP2 and PLN mutation carrierswithout any detectable sign of the disease. By combining advanced electrophysiologicaland imaging techniques, high-risk patients can be detected prior to adverse events.In QRS-VISION 2 methods will be studied:1) A 3D camera will be used to accurately position ECG electrodes over time tomonitor ECG waveform changes, and2) Non-invasive techniques will be implemented to solve the inverse problem inelectrocardiography (iECG).iECG techniques aim to estimate local conduction abnormalities by combining cardiacimaging, ECG data and 3D photo’s of the patient’s chest with electrode positions. Bothapproaches might be able to detect early stages of cardiomyopathy and thus can be usedin PEACS technology to detect patients at increased risk for sudden cardiac death.

Conduct a clinical feasibility study to validate the non-invasive imaging of the heart based on the standard 12 leads ECG. This research is conducted at the Cardiac Arrhythmia group at the UCLA.
