As a Youth Corper at the Drug Evaluation and Research Directorate (DER) of NAFDAC, I operate under the supervision of Deputy Directors, contributing to the regulation of pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, herbal medicines, cosmetics, and medical devices. My key responsibilities include:- Assisting in the assessment of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for domestic manufacturing plants.- Participating in inspections to monitor compliance with Good Storage Practices (GSP) for facilities storing vaccines and biologics.- Aiding in the review of clinical trial protocols and submissions for new drugs and generic medicines.- Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to foster compliance and enhance the quality of regulated products.- Engaging in capacity-building initiatives and training programs for industry stakeholders.This role has provided me with valuable insights into the pharmaceutical regulatory landscape and has enhanced my skills in quality management systems, quality assessment, and regulatory compliance.

Internship at the University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Chemical Pathology Lab• Gained hands-on experience in specimen collection, handling, and analysis.• Performed a variety of diagnostic tests including renal function tests (electrolytes, urea, and creatinine) and liver function tests (bilirubin).• Managed patient data records and ensured quality control under the supervision of the lab supervisor.• Delivered a presentation on glucose metabolism and its role in diabetes, demonstrating an ability to translate complex scientific concepts into accessible information.
