In this particular role, I will be involved in every aspect of the business and definitely broaden my horizons as an aspiring young winemaker.

Assist cellar master, Thierry Haberer and winemaker, Annamarie Fourie with all winemaking techniques, specializing in red wine vinification. I was exposed and work with several different cultivars including, Chardonnay, Semillon, Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.I was assigned the responsibility of running the cellar during the time both my supervisors were not present and gave me immense experience in supervising and managing a team and making sure that all daily tasks run as smoothly as possible.

This is the start of my two years training in the winemaking industry and learning from some of the best winemakers around the world. I will be assisting winemakers with the actual making of wine and all the processes that go around it.This amazing journey started at De Grendel Wine Estate working under cellar master, Charles Hopkins and winemaker, Morgan Steyn. I was involved in all winemaking techniques with particular focus on red wine vinification and gave me my first insight into how to manage a cellar and produce quality wines at medium to high volumes. I was exposed to several different grape cultivars including, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinotage, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petit Verdot.
