I am a master of Science graduate from Stellenbosch University. I am eager to secure challenging roles in the wine and research industry.In the third year of my undergraduate degree, I undertook a 6-month placement as a Genetics mentor at Stellenbosch University. I was delighted to be presented with the opportunity to utilise the skills gained during my studies to help and guide other less experienced students. In my fifth year of studying I started my masters project that looked at the viability of using selected yeasts as microbiological alternatives to enhancing acidity in wines from warmer climate regions in order to limit the usage of industrial chemicals, such as tartaric acid and citric acid.I also embarked on a new exciting challenge by working in the wine cellar at Quoin Rock Wine Estate in the beginning of 2022. This gave me an incredible insight into the functionality of the wine industry and how winemakers think as apposed to a researcher such as myself. I furthered my knowledge of winemaking by working at De Grendel in Durbanville and Holden Manz Wine Estate in Franschoek in 2024. I'm set to go work in a Dry Creek Vineyards in California in August 2024 as well.I have also gained experience in wine presentation and sales while working as sales representative at Super Single Vineyards. While working here, I unlocked my passion for the social side of wine industry in South Africa and the interest of selling and marketing wines to the public and in house wine tasters.My studies have provided me with broad proficiency in the use of Scientific research methods, tools, and techniques. Alongside this, I have developed sound communication skills while delivering presentations to large audiences at the university. As such, I am confident that I can make an instant impact in a number of roles.I am eager to hear about potential career opportunities, so I would be pleased to chat about job openings in the Science realm.
