Workshop Engineer
CurrentI started this role as an apprentice in 2008, becoming a full engineer in 2009. It all began at the Co-operative, later being taken over by the Wincor Nixdorf, who went on to merge with Diebold.I have created various projects to improve the National Service Centre's (NSC) productivity and effectiveness. For example:- Tesseract enhanced, written in AHK, was initially developed to streamline the workshop data entry processes. It was an essential piece of software that all departments utilised. - Stock system migration, I taught myself SQL to migrate our critical business reports into SQL, which I then created user-friendly reports in Report Builder.- An interface using C# to edit the SMBIOS of some equipment, providing engineers with a simple way of manipulating data.- Logistics live stock checking system in Excel. This checks for issues before equipment enters or leaves the NSC, ensuring customers are charged appropriately.- ADBSI is a frontend for the Android debugging bridge, written in Python. This allows the workshop to flash multiple Android devices at once, significantly increasing productivity.- TesPy, Tesseract Enhancement Suite, written in Python, is currently in beta. It is built to work with the new stock system. Currently, it can process three essential functions in twenty seconds; this would take an average engineer around ninety seconds. This program demonstrates its true effectiveness when processing multiple jobs.I have taken on many responsibilities during my time, some of which I have listed below. - Triage and repair various equipment, from handheld devices to servers and printers- Find methods to test new equipment- Write Reports using Microsoft report builder- Write various SQL queries to pull ad-hoc data- Support colleagues with technical issues with the stock system- Clean & analyse data within Excel- Create & streamline administrative processes using python- Create & update multiple processes for using the stock system
