Eric is a Queen's University Belfast Ancient History and Politics graduate, bartender and restaurant manager.During his education, rooted in Classics, he delivered presentations and engagd in University societies, but found time to perform on stage both at university in male choral group Major Sixth, and in the Grand Opera House with Ulster Operatic Company. He volunteered for local charity Lagan Legacy, supervising events late night at the Belfast Barge, and also for a short time at Oxfam on Botanic Ave, mostly keeping busy at the bookshelves.After graduating with First Class honours, Eric then interned as sales executive at Development start-up Fresher Development on Adelaide Ave. It was not a successful venture, learning to market the service ad hoc, then calling endless other businesses offering development solutions. Delivering a couple meaningful meetings in as many months, he decided to count it as a humbling lesson and move on.Eric returned home to Newtownabbey, and took a job behind the bar at The Bureau and Lanyon's Restaurant, where he discovered a wealth of new skills, and adapted his thinking towards a career in services and hospitality, for its quality of high activity-based work, quickly developing relationships at face-level, and attention to running small business operations in terms of its stock, food and drink products, pricing, management technique, and team ethic.Following the Bureau's change in ownership, Eric took a year out to explore his fascination since childhood, Greece. Taking an intensive 4-week CELTA course, Eric then found full time work between 2 English Language schools in Chalcis, on the island of Euboea, teaching children and adults of all levels.Returned to Belfast Eric has now become bar manager of centrally located Cathedral Quarter restaurant and wine-bar 2Taps, having satisfaction in dedicating several years work to hospitality.
