Between 1992 and 2019 served in increasingly responsible positions including Senior Attorney, Group Counsel, IP Licensing Manager, Principal Attorney and Senior Director. Managed 25 employees internationally as well as a 15-employee intellectual property (IP) department start-up operation in Silicon Valley. Career highlights and accomplishments include i) overseeing IP matters focused on protection and enforcement of IP rights, ii) serving as lead attorney for U.S. IP litigation, iii) leading U.S. patent licensing programs including the Philips’ optical licensing program, iv) managing IP investigations relating to stock purchase, asset purchase and equity investments of numerous corporate targets, v) providing legal counsel for a wide range of technologies including semiconductors, consumer electronics, internet, medical devices, imaging, healthcare informatics, sensing technology, and artificial intelligence, vi) preparing and teaching numerous in-house litigation courses covering all aspects of an IP lawsuit and vii) oversight of the Philips China IP Academy including preparation of programs taught by in-house Philips attorneys at Fudan University (Shanghai), Tshinghua University (Beijing), and Remin University of China (Beijing).
