Currently serving as a Board Member Emeritus for this 200-member company association. Between 2014 to 2019, served as the Philips representative to the Board of Directors; as Board liaison for the Asian Practice Committee; and as a member of the Board emerging technologies steering group. In 2019 led a delegation of chief patent counsels and senior IP leaders who met with judiciary and administrative agencies in China, including judges from China’s Supreme People’s Court. From 2004 to 2014 served as Chair of the Asian Practice Committee Chair and as the alternate Philips representative to the Board.

Between 1992 and 2019 served in increasingly responsible positions including Senior Attorney, Group Counsel, IP Licensing Manager, Principal Attorney and Senior Director. Managed 25 employees internationally as well as a 15-employee intellectual property (IP) department start-up operation in Silicon Valley. Career highlights and accomplishments include i) overseeing IP matters focused on protection and enforcement of IP rights, ii) serving as lead attorney for U.S. IP litigation, iii) leading U.S. patent licensing programs including the Philips’ optical licensing program, iv) managing IP investigations relating to stock purchase, asset purchase and equity investments of numerous corporate targets, v) providing legal counsel for a wide range of technologies including semiconductors, consumer electronics, internet, medical devices, imaging, healthcare informatics, sensing technology, and artificial intelligence, vi) preparing and teaching numerous in-house litigation courses covering all aspects of an IP lawsuit and vii) oversight of the Philips China IP Academy including preparation of programs taught by in-house Philips attorneys at Fudan University (Shanghai), Tshinghua University (Beijing), and Remin University of China (Beijing).

Served as President, from 2004 to 2005, and as Vice President, from 2002 to 2003, of an association made up of U.S. and Japanese companies. Guided by a business model and key performance indicators, developed policies and practices keeping in mind the organization's vision and mission. Assembled a team of committed board members and committee leaders with relevant knowledge and skill sets. Identified the organization's strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats through formal strategic planning and implemented plan goals by ensuring that they adhered to the business model. Ensured capacity through effective management of financial resources and expenditures. In 2005 spearheaded the integration of this organization into the Intellectual Property Owners Association.

Served on the Board of Directors from 1998-2001, provided guidance and oversight of programs and services to a membership base of more than 1,500 IP attorneys. Served as Membership committee chair from 1995-1998.
