Managed a small team of recent college graduates. Provided technical oversight, training, and management of a couple of new engineers to assist them in attaining competency in Java, C#, and the necessary procedures and processes to be successful software developers at Aspen. Provided technical leadership to assist in the growth of other young QE and development engineers in transitioning from college to professional careers.Architected, designed, and developed an ESB based infrastructure to support the creation of aspenONE. Led and managed a small team for the purpose of implementing the infrastructure, and evangelizing the adoption of the infrastructure into other product teams.Proposed, architected, designed, and developed the Schedule Manager. The schedule manager was created to provide scheduling capabilities, including scheduling ingestion jobs for the Solr search engine. The new system included the flexibility to act as an integration component for a stand alone search capability to be included in some of Aspen’s products, as well as form the basis for ingesting model data into aspenONE.

Redesigned the Maven build system to correctly segregate and build a cascaded set of sub-components to create a final product. The build comprised sections of code from globally dispersed source repositories, and merged them into the final deliverable, executed all unit tests, and generated reporting information to determine code quality.

Achitected, designed, and developed an application to integrate a legacy camera control system with a new FAA SWIM based project for investigating the feasibility of remote tower operations under one of the FAA Next-Gen programs. The integration application is controlled through JMS messages and converts the received commands to the necessary legacy messages to command the cameras to perform as requested. Served as the team leader in a technical capacity for the last few months of the project. Architected, designed, and developed a Java EE based archiving service using JBoss and MySQL. The archiver service exposed its controls interface through a number of mechanisms, all backed by a set of stateless session EJBs. The EJBs back ended a web service, enabled through annotation, JMX, and a command line interface. The archiver recorded all message traffic passing through a set of XMPP chat rooms, extracting metadata about the message traffic, as the traffic was stored. The archiver provided search and playback capability in addition to its ability to store the traffic. The archiver provided the record, query, and playback services to a large system of systems as a portion of a demonstration of the DOD Net Centric initiative. The demonstration further illustrated how legacy stove piped systems can be upgraded to the Net Centric model to greatly improve the ability of those systems to be integrated into larger sets of systems and allow those systems to be enhanced by other systems following the same paradigm.

Specified the architecture for the server components of the Viziant System. Designed and implemented a mock set of server side components to facilitate the initial UI development for the Viziant System. Designed and implemented the first implementation of the server side code for the Viziant System. Served as contact point and project lead for the UI development for the Viziant System. Converted the initial implementation of the server from J2EE 1.4 to Java EE 5.

Developed the initial version of the SMIL player. Architected, designed, and developed the second version of the SMIL player. The second version of the player removed all third party software from the player, enhanced the range of SMIL documents that could be handled, and provided conformance with JSR-135. Maintained and expanded the media portions of the SavaJe OS. Designed and developed two different solutions to handling input streams for JSR-135.

Performed the initial integration to the Sun Java System Application Server for the first release of the Common Components Factory (CCF) of the Nokia Mobility Middleware (NMM). Designed and implemented the JUnit tests and J2SE example client code and J2EE example client code for the ServiceLookup utility as part of the first release of CCF. Designed and implemented the Ant install scripts for Windows 2000, Redhat Linux 2.x and 3.x for the CCF. Represented the CCF in the Nokia Mobility Middleware (NMM) workshop and the Porting and Release Testing (P&RT) factory. Transitioned to project leadership role partway through the project, and in that role, represented the CCF in project management meetings, created and presented status presentations, and managed the assignment of tasks to the project staff.

Integrated the IntegraX call processing system with several telephone systems. Designed and implemented new C++ integration drivers to enable the IntegraX system to integrate with several digital telephone systems, including a TAPI driver to enable integration to all TAPI compatible telephone systems. Designed and implemented a C++ utility program for editing the configuration files to allow rapid changes to the files to be easily accomplished.
