I specialize in the complete electrical design engineering of advanced building systems. I develop the power systems for complex electronic loads, mechanical equipment, and the demanding personnel and missions that they support. This involves simultaneously coordinating the contract work of multiple design A&E firms on multiple projects with staged design and construction reviews, providing cost estimates, giving presentations, compiling reports, enforcing federal regulations, interpreting codes and monitoring construction as a COTR. My most enjoyable work has been with Air Traffic Control Towers. These require redundancy of the electrical power distribution systems through the use of Engine Generators and UPS's. I give special attention to lightning protection for 100% uninterrupted service in life-safety critical environments. Harmonics, Protective Device Coordination, Short Circuit Analysis, Arc Flash, grounding, lighting systems, security, and communications are all a challenge in such an amazing structure. I have also had the privilege of working on Long Range Radar Sites, Airport Runway Facilities, Air Route Traffic Control Centers and two new Child Care facilities. My work has included both new and refurbish projects. The Miami Hurricane Andrew disaster refurbish effort is an example of my wide range of challenging engineering experiences. The most enjoyable result of my career is being able to look out of an airplane window and see the monuments that I and our design teams have created.
