About Ed Curry

Currently I am an Entrepreneurial Lead partaking in the ICURe Explore program, commercialising technology that looks to improve biomanufacturing processes. Our platform deconstructs cell factories into component parts and identifies the critical cellular parameters (CCPs) that are limiting key bioproduction objectives. These CCPs are then precisely targeted via simple, non-genetic engineering techniques to achieve optimal set-points that enhance product yield and quality. My background is in bioprocess engineering, particularly platform technology for the enhanced production of synthetic mRNA. I have experience in Protein Expression, Molecular Biology, Cell Culture and mRNA Synthesis

    Researcher Phd Student
The University Of Sheffield Oct 2019 - Jan 2024
    Sheffield, England, United Kingdom
During my PhD, supervised by Dr. Adam Brown and Prof. David James, I developed technology for improving existing manufacturing processes. This included:- A novel cell-based mRNA production system, as a cost-effect alternative to current IVT processes.Preprint available at https://www.authorea.com/users/696420/articles/684785-engineering-an-e-coli-based-in-vivo-mrna-manufacturing-platform- A screening system for identifying new RNA polymerases that have function in IVT. - A platform for identifying bottlenecks in mammalian cells that leads to poor yields of recombinant products. This technology is now being commercialised through the ICURe program, and has potential applications in a number of biologic manufacturing processes
