I had the responsibility of building the leadership team of 30 managers, 300 warehouse associates and 200 drivers. This position is responsible for creating the best labor strategy consolidating 4 different unions into 1 preferred union. Responsibilities include to successfully introduce a new WMS (Manhattan) interfaced with a Dematic multi shuttle goods to person and pick to light system. Duties include overseeing warehousing, transportation (including 2 cross dock locations), and fleet maintenance.

Responsibilities include providing the strategic and tactical solutions in support of short term and long term plans for both inbound and outbound Transportation solutions and processes for Freetown Transportation Operations. Responsibilities include ensuring a cost effective operation of the fleet through Information Technology and Associate deployment. In this capacity, I played a key role in the transformation of Transportation from “commodity” to “value added enabler” for the business strategy. I served as a key interface between Transportation, Warehousing, Store Operations and Information Technology. I was directly responsible for 25 staff exempt and non exempt associates and 250 3rd Party (Manfi) drivers including labor relations. I was able to reduce overall miles driven from 14 million annually down to 12.5 million by introducing new 53 foot trailers to the fleet as well as increasing cube per load by systematically accounting for stock not in inventory before the routing solution instead of after.

Accountable for ensuring appropriate staffing levels and operations schedules to meet inbound and outbound volume requirements and store delivery schedules. Responsible for forecasting Holiday schedules and planning to ensure on-time deliveries in a cost effective manner. Partnered with transportation to create delivery windows for Store Operations. Facilitated all performance and discipline union hearings including arbitrations and National Labor Board charges.

Transformed the Florist warehouse from a reverse selection facility to a convention selection operation.

Responsible for the operation of the 2nd largest fluid milk plant in New England. This state of the art facility produced 750,000 gallons of milk and 70,000 gallons of juice weekly. Directed staff of 9 Supervisors and Managers and 105 hourly union employees. Experience include union relations up to arbitration process. Synchronized the introduction and production of 4 new juice products resulting in successful on time product launch. Coordinated scheduling of product flow during installation of new silos with no disruption to customer service. Rescheduled deliveries of raw materials resulting in a reduction of inventory by 10%. Acted as the company liaison for FDA and USDA guidelines and inspections for the facility.
