Detective Constable - Sex Crimes Unit, Child & Youth Advocacy Centre

In October 2016, Ed returned to some familiar stomping grounds with the Toronto Police Service, Sex Crimes Unit. This time around, he was assigned to the "Child and Youth Advocacy Centre" (CYAC). In this role, he continues to utilize his now 18 years of police knowledge, skills and experiences to investigate and facilitate the criminal prosecution of abuse (sexual/physical) against children.The CYAC is a ground-breaking (in Canada), and collaborative effort to house investigative resources (Toronto Police), child protection agencies, (Children's Aid Society) and ongoing victim support (Boost), under one roof with the goal of enhancing both investigative/case management efficiency and unparalleled convenience for the victims and their families, during this traumatic time in their lives.

Detective Constable - Family Violence Unit, 12 Division

In 2010, following his participation as part of the G8/G20 World Summit, Integrated Security Unit (ensuring the safety and security of Internationally Protected Persons, law enforcement personnel, protesters and all private citizens in attendance), Ed was re-assigned to the TPS Fugitive Squad where he was mandated to developed profiles, investigate and arrest multiple "internationally wanted persons, known to be residing in the Greater Toronto Area".

This assignment saw Ed become involved in matters of Toronto Police Service policy with respect to Human Rights, Employment Equity and Inclusive Organizational issues, as the service's Project Co-ordinator for Human Rights Project Charter (or "HRPC" ...see above for details).In this role, Ed also regularly liaised with and produced reports, analyses and presentations for Command and Senior officers, with respect to the management of a variety of related Special Projects and intitiatives, including ISNs (Internal Support Networks), the DMU Annual Conference, the HRPC conference.

Detective Constable - Sex Crimes Unit

Upon being assigned to the Sex Crimes Unit in 2004, Ed became involved in investigations involving Child Exploitation, specifically Child Prostitution (the pimping of victims under 18, escorting, etc.) and Child Pornography (the production and distribution of internet child abuse images and videos).In 2007, Ed was assigned to assist with the successful launch of "Special Victims Section", a specialized sub-section of Sex Crimes, mandated to investigate offences and manage criminal cases, related to prostitution and pimping (victim procurement, sex assault, forcible confinement, exercise control, etc.). In this capacity, Ed specialized in crimes against persons under 18, where some victims as young as 11 years-old.During this era of Ed's career he also spent time within the Sexual Assault Squad, which is mandated to investigate crimes involving serial offenders, stranger-to-stranger assaults, "date rape", etc.
