I am a hands-on, technical leader (Director equivalent on the technical track) with a broad range of experiences, skills, and interests. My tolerance for, and enjoyment of, theoretical complexity, is high while I simultaneously focus on the practical applications of such. I have experience in myriad fields including manufacturing, machine tool technology, hydraulics & fluid power, robotics & automation, machine design, component and systems engineering, material science, nascent technology development, etc. In terms of softer skills, I am an accomplished pedagogue and project manager with a demonstrable EQ. I’ve focused on electrochemical technology since around 2011. Currently I am listed as an inventor on 37 US patents. My team and I are developing novel green electrochemical technologies from concept generation through iterative design stages, characterization and scaleup. Our Cambridge facility is up and running with 10 employees to date. We expect to move to a larger facility in the near future. If you are passionate about environmental sustainability and have a background in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics… etcetera, and would like to explore joining our team, please contact me at ed.domit@electra.earth.
Listed skills include Design For Manufacturing, Manufacturing, Solidworks, Engineering, and 26 others.

Fuel Cell Stack 4/2017 to 5/2022On a prototype, next generation, fuel-cell stack, I identified multiple manufacturability issues. One of my contributions was a redesigned sealing method for cost containment and manufacturability. Also, I Identified a manufacturing technique, adiabatic forming, to achieve quality and cost targets for formed metal bipolar plates. I selected a supplier of this technique and act as the technical liaison between our firms. Worked on a new configuration fuel cell stack specific to a customer’s needs.Steam Methane Reformer 8/2015 to 4/2017 (1year 8 months)I identified and corrected, several design issues which had cost Nuvera over a million dollars a year. One compressor’s expected life was increased ten fold as a result of these changes. Also, I Initiated a version change to the product, primarily to accumulate multiple revisions into one change for Manufacturing, but also to cut cost, as well as increase reliability, serviceability and manufacturability.

Electro-chemical Hydrogen Compressor 8/2011 to 7/2015 (3 year 11 months)I was a member of a small project team, which developed an electrochemical hydrogen compressor based on PEM technology and capable of 875 BAR. To the best of our knowledge this was the world’s first commercially viable electro-chemical hydrogen compressor. We developed a laboratory scale proof of concept, an engineering scale multi-cell stack and several, full active area multi-cell stacks, as well as all associated machinery, fixturing and tooling for assembly.
Available for companies who need help phasing product out of the prototype stage into pre-production and production, designing products for manufacturability, supply chain management, value engineering and general mechanical engineering functions.
Project manager and team member of prototype engineering project groups (liquid cooled applications). Primary focus design, machining, vacuum brazing and technical interface with customers and suppliers.
Responsible for all mechanical designs, documentation, projects and services. A member of the management team, coordinating with other departments regarding the formulation and achievement of company objectives. Additionally, serves as the ISO 9001 Management Representative with oversight/authorship of business quality management systems. Lean manufacturing and ERP pilot team member.

Responsible for all Manufacturing Engineering functions reporting to V.P. Mfg. Primary duties included; generation/editing of manufacturing procedures, supply chain management and MRP; liaison between Manufacturing, Engineering, and Marketing. Initiated and implemented cost reduction project for legacy product; reduced material cost while improving manufacturability and product functionality. Proposed changes that would further reduce material cost, while improving machine value and reduced cost of ownership. Provided technical support for Field Service and Customer Service as well as DFM consultation and ECO generation/approvals. Developed and executed processes and procedures for optical alignment of precision microscopes.
Designed new BGA solder re-work stations and improvements of existing stations. Established and maintained a part numbering system and MRP system to support inventory control and cost accounting. Responsible for re-design of beta machine for production. Designed and manufactured components and casting patterns for a wide variety of machines. Interfaced with vendors and contract manufacturers for cost control, scheduling and manufacturability issues. Performed myriad other job functions which are typical in a start-up environment.
Designed, manufactured and procured components and assemblies for use in proprietary laser metal deposition equipment, in a start-up environment.
