From 2011, I was the Mining Portfolio Manager for the Queensland Water & Environment business (and Acting Group Manager, Mining Clients), responsible for relationship building, securing of business and oversight of delivery of projects within the portfolio. A key aspect of the role was not only in building strong relationships with SKM’s key mining clients, but also in collaborating with the broader SKM Mining & Metals business. As part of this role, I sat as part of the Queensland Water & Environment leadership team (business unit of 150 people) and also sit as part of the global Mining (Water & Environment) Leadership Team, contributing to the delivery of key initiatives. I was also Project Director and Project Manager for key projects within the business.Between April and October 2013, I also acted in the Section Manager role for the Environmental Engineering business within the Water & Environment group of SKM’s Queensland operations. In this time, I put in place a range of actions with a view to winning a much greater share of work (including empowering our people to be active in winning work), delivering our projects more effectively, building stronger teams through mentoring, industry involvement and celebrating successes.

I held an Assistant Coordinator General role, then promoted to Deputy Coordinator General, within the Department of Infrastructure and Planning, Queensland State Government. I operated at an executive level within the organisation of 800 people and had substantial interaction at high levels across all areas of Government. My responsibilities and accountabilities included all aspects of strategic planning, service delivery, budget management, HR, legal interface for the Infrastructure & Land Group (approximately 150 people). As part of this role, I led the planning and implementation of significant infrastructure and economic development projects and provision of land for commercial, industrial and environmental purposes. I negotiated key issues and delivery of projects and initiatives both within government and directly with industry with a view to ultimately driving economic development and investment attraction.

I was a member of the Executive Team within Seqwater, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of the company (at the time a Local and State Government owned corporation). I both had oversight of the projects from a corporate perspective and also direct involvement, where required, as the Project Director or Executive Leadership Team member (where the project was an Alliance type project). I also led water efficiency initiatives in the Project Director role for a period, such as the Business Water Efficiency Program and was a key contributor to the Regional Drought Strategy response.

In these roles, I represented the company and projects as a senior representative and acted as part of the Project Management Team for large Alliance projects. I also provide technical oversight to project teams, including in design management roles and had accountability for project performance.In 2007, I also returned to KBR for a 12 month period and during that time was their Queensland Business Development Manager & Commercial Manager.
