The Garland, Texas Facility is MAPEI’s 3rd largest production and regional distribution center globally, housing over 7MM pounds of inventory in 1600 plus sku’s and serving customers in an 800 mile radius. Operating 24/7 with 150 employees, 5 million lbs of product are shipped weekly, resulting in average monthly sales of over $6.0MM. Responsible for the supply chain of Urethane, Epoxy and Resilient adhesives throughout North America. Reorganized management, supervisory and workforce staff an implemented an operating culture which saw a 32% reduction in personnel and 73% increase in production efficiency Implemented “Extreme Makeover” of facility including establishment of 5S and Ownership/Accountability culture resulting in an increase in service performance from 84.5% on time to 99.6% on time. Doubled the size of the operating plant including the addition of an 80,000ft2 warehouse, a second polyurethane adhesive production line and high speed plastic bagging line Implemented breakthrough strategy which increased the polyurethane batch capability from 9 batches per week to 21 batches per week with less than $20,000 capital investment Increased plant sales volume by 64% from 2007 to 2011 Achieved an 82% reduction in safety incidents and reduced worker’s comp insurance costs from $50,000 per year to less than $2,500 per year Implemented quality and management programs including ISO 9001 and OSHA SHARPS. Set foundation for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Reduced Service Related complaints by 85% and product related complaints by 28% through rigorous root cause analysis and preventative methods such as FMEA
